7 reasons to move to Yukon, Oklahoma
When we tell people that Yukon is a great place to live, they automatically think we’re referring to the Canadian territory where the Gold Rush occurred in the 1890s. While I’m sure that’s wonderful, all of us here at Authentic Custom Homes are claiming bragging rights for Yukon, Oklahoma (which, incidentally, was named after that “other” Yukon). Here are 7 reasons to move to Yukon, Oklahoma:
- Great schools. The Yukon Public School District serves about 7,800 students, and earned a perfect rating from the North American Association of Colleges and Schools.
- Low cost of living. Yukon gives you more for your money. The cost of living here is 14.2% lower than the national average
- Location, location, location. Enjoy an easy drive to Oklahoma City to enjoy metropolitan activities and events while you can return home to a peaceful suburb, with a comfortable population of almost 25,000.
- Active and growing area. Coldwell Banker ranked Yukon as the 42nd best suburb in the entire country. CNN Money rated our county as the 25th fastest growing county for job growth.
- Family-friendly. Our town provides plenty of local fun for families. We love to celebrate! Annual events like the Czech Festival, Christmas in the Park, Pumpkin Harvest Craft Festival, Scottish Heritage Festival, 4th of July Freedom Fest, Chisholm Trail & Crawfish Festival offer plenty of activities for all ages. Kirkpatrick Family Farm and Chisholm Trail Park are popular gathering spots for recreation and outdoor events. The Parks & Recreation Department manages 12 parks, three aquatic centers, two community centers, and a gym. The J. Calvin Ball Field is home to the Spirit League for children and adults with disabilities.
- Rich in heritage. Founded in the late 19th century, Yukon has preserved its history through a variety of museums (Yukon’s Best Railroad Museum, Yukon Farm Museum, Yukon Historical Society Museum, Yukon Veterans Museum). A favorite among residents and visitors are the Express Clydesdales, the stunning workhorses that travel around North America for parades, rodeos, and festivals. These impressive horses have helped to raise millions of dollars to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
- A safe place to live. Yukon has one of the lowest crime rates in the entire state of Oklahoma!
