Lighting is the jewelry of a home

Her husband and co-founder, Kenyon Woods, says Brandi’s passion for exceptional lighting is one of the features that really distinguishes our homes.” Brandi refuses to offer a “standard lighting package”. She says it doesn’t belong in a custom-built home. “Why would we go to the trouble to personalize a home’s detail for our customer and then give them a cookie-cutter choice of lighting?” she explains.

Brandi works closely with Hunzicker Lighting Gallery, Oklahoma City’s favorite lighting store, which has been in existence for almost 90 years. Brandi loves their expansive range of lighting options and the Hunzicker staff, “who are about as particular as I am about finding the right fixtures for a home.” Brandi says she looks at a home’s design—interior and exterior—to determine the best way to accessorize it with lighting. Then she browses through Hunzkicker Lighting Gallery’s many options for chandeliers, pendants, sconces, vanity lights, recessed lights, and flush-mounted fixtures. “The challenge is to accessorize for someone else’s taste, not mine. I have to put myself in a different mindset for each style, like contemporary, traditional, or craftsman.”

The “lighting jewelry” she says, is like fashion. You can dress an outfit up or down with your choice. You can draw attention to different features. The right light fixture enhances an area, without overwhelming it or under-lighting it. At Authentic Custom Homes, we try to live up to our name.

We want to give every homebuyer a unique experience. We want them to be involved with all the details, so that the home they move into is truly a reflection of their own personality, spirit, and character. Giving them the sparkle and shine of light fixture jewelry is just one more way we like to remain “Authentic.”
